As an internationally-acclaimed talk show host, #1 best-selling author, and motivational speaker, Johnny Wimbrey’s charismatic nature inspires everyone from inner-city youth to corporate moguls and celebrities. His past is a fascinating one that he left behind to live to tell the story about it today.
A Key Talent | I believe in positive thinking. I believed I would be successful long before I actually was successful. During the lean years, I looked in the mirror every day and said, “I will increase today.” This became such a part of me and my success that I am known for the phrase, “Say Increase!” I honestly believe that positive self-talk is the most important thing you need to do in order to become successful. In fact, it’s such an important piece that I spend an entire month on this during my one-year Think Millionaire online course.
My Definition Of Success | Success to me used to mean money. Once I became a millionaire, the definition of success changed. It now means that I have financial freedom and time freedom. After all, what’s the point of having money if I’m not in control of my time? If I spend a week traveling for work, I can spend a few days sleeping in late, going to the park with my kids, or just hanging out with my family. I am not tied to a 9-to-5 job.
I Am Driven By | This has also changed for me over the years. I used to be afraid of poverty, but I am no longer driven by fear. Now I am driven to help others. Because my motivation has changed to one of helping others, my life of abundance has increased even more!
Critical Skills I Develop | I am not afraid to fail. So many people are so afraid to fail, that they never take risks. I’ve taken many risks in my life. Not all of the risks have paid off, but many of them have. I would rather fail big than succeed small.
Resources I Use To Stay Inspired | It’s essential to always have a mentor and a coach. Even the best-of-the-best have a coach. In fact, no top athlete achieves greatness without a great coach. As Tiger Woods is famous for saying, he can’t see his own golf swing, so he needs someone who can.
If you are on the road to success already—or just wanting to take that path—a success coach can get you there faster. Even though hiring a coach is an investment, it is typically far less expensive than making costly mistakes that are inevitable when you go it alone. I have been fortunate to have been coached by some amazing leaders, such as Les Brown. If you want to be successful, the very first thing you should do is find a coach who inspires you, and then do everything that coach tells you to do.
The Best Advice I’ve Received | The best advice I ever got is to be bullet proof. When you’re on the road to success, you’ll have setbacks and rejection. If you are bullet proof, you will brush off the rejection and keep putting one foot in front of the other. This is where the positive self-talk comes in. Instead of getting caught up in the negative, “Say Increase!” every day… on the good days as well as the bad.
The Meaning Of Life | The meaning of life to me is about being happy, which can only come when you live a life filled with balance. Abundance and wealth are important, but so is having the time to spend with family and friends. When you take away your worries… your worries about financial freedom and your worries about time freedom, then happiness is easier to achieve. When I mentor people about success, I also stress the importance of personal time, family time, living inside of a healthy body, and even spiritual health. These are all important parts of living a balanced and happy life.
The Difference Between Good And Great | If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. Many people out there put in 40 to 50 hours a week at a job they hate. How can you be happy if you spend so much of your life in a state of unhappiness? You can’t. If you want to be great at what you do, first you have to do what you love. If you’re not doing what you love, why not? I’m great at what I do because I love it. I want to challenge everyone who is out there reading this right now to be true to yourselves and do what you love.
The Legacy I Would Like To Leave | When people think of me, I want them to think that I helped them bring Increase into their lives. An increase of wealth, an increase of balance, an increase of quality time, an increase of personal health, an increase of personal spirituality, and an increase of happiness. It is possible, and yes, it is probable. All you have to do is take the first step. Say INCREASE!
