Dineshrie-Pillay_P2I Am Inspired By | I am inspired with the process of creativity. As human beings we have the remarkable ability to create something that did not exist before – we just need to start. Whether it is to create a family, a business, a new service or product – the ability to create     exists in all of us. So I am inspired by people who defy the odds, individuals who have the vision to do things that was initially perceived as impossible, people who are persistent to finding ways to solve a problem – because if they can do great things, so can I.

Advice On Building Wealth | There are 2 principles that I would like to share:
Principle 1:
Great wealth flows to the person who has an even greater vision for using the wealth that extends beyond their own personal or selfish needs. If you desire to have great wealth, you need to be clear on how you intend on using the wealth to benefit people around you. The greater your vision, the higher the probability for attracting vast amount of wealth.
Principle 2:
Look after the wealth that you attract. Use the funds wisely to help grow more funds through savings and investment vehicles. With any amount of funds that you have, you will attract more funds if you can show that you can look after what has been given to you initially. View money as ‘employees’ working for you. By wise investments, initial amounts of wealth can be used to generate more funds – it is what I call “Mo-Ployees” – Money working as employees for you.

The Best Advice I’ve Received | This advice came from a talk I listened to from T. Harv Ecker. He was talking about taking action and how most people have great dreams and ambitions but are afraid to take the first step. His advice simply stated was, “If you are afraid to take the first step since you do not have a benchmark or target of success, just start with the idea you have. Then whatever your first step was, call that the ‘target’ and the next step is the action you will take to improve on it. Do this continuously to achieve success.”
I love this advice as it reminds me that I do not have to be ‘perfect’ the first time I attempt something – it also helps me to limit my procrastination.

Performing At My Peak | I have learnt to be highly effective by quickly implementing an idea that I have. I also record new ideas that I have onto a journal or “idea” book and regularly review these to implement. I have found that if you get an idea to do something, you have a higher probability of doing it if your implementation lag time is as short as possible.
I have also learnt to trust my gut feeling. Sometimes we can do all the research and obtain as much external feedback as we can – but ultimately you need to trust your gut instinct to do something. When I am undecided make a decision – I ask a simple question, “Does this feel right to go ahead?” There have been many occasions when something felt right to go ahead, yet my rationality said, “no don’t go ahead – it is too soon.” After going ahead with the decision, I usually agree with my gut instinct – it was the right decision to make – even though it felt scary doing it!

Dineshrie-Pillay_P3Dealing With Doubt | When things go wrong there are 2 decisions to make. First you can wallow in the self-pity and think how ‘bad’ your situation is. This only results in your “pity” state to go into a deeper state of depression. The second option is to focus on what is positive about your situation and who is currently helping you with whatever you are going through.
As an example, in early 2014 I wrote and published my first book. When it came to marketing my book I found it extremely difficult as most book-stores, radio stations and magazines were not willing to review or market my book due to me not being a well known ‘celebrity’.
It can be very depressing knowing that you have invested a lot of money in publishing a book and not being able to market or distribute it. Instead of wallowing in self-pity what I did at the time, was make a list of all the people who indicated to me that they would help me to market and distribute the book – and called them up. By focusing on the positive, I was able   to refocus my thoughts to something that was more productive and I eventually was able to market and distribute my book to the public 3 months later. My book is now available on Amazon, Kindle, and local bookstores in South Africa – I get feedback on a weekly basis from readers who are inspired by the book and thank me for writing it. I would not been receiving this feedback if I gave up too soon!

How I Use My Mind | I am a strong believer in the power of the questions that we ask ourselves to achieve a higher quality answer. When things don’t go well or I do not get a desired outcome or ‘fail’ on some level – I remind myself an important principle – that failure is merely feedback. Failure is feedback that I need to try a different approach.
So when things don’t go my way, I simply ask myself a series of questions:

  1. “What am I doing wrong?”
  2. “What can I do differently to achieve my outcome?”
  3. “What can I implement that I have not tried before?”
  4. “Who can I approach to help me to achieve my goals?”

On asking these questions, I usually come up with a host of ideas to take action on.

Critical Skills I Develop |
Skill 1: Learning to understand what drives human behaviour
A few years ago, I became fascinated at why perceived “bad” things happen to “good” people – this was mainly driven by myself going through a series of failures in my own life – including being unemployed with a B-Comm Degree, failing my qualifying board examinations and getting involved in a car accident. I have learnt a series of skills that I teach people today on how to understand human behaviour as it also helps us to interact with each other.
Skill 2: Learning to speak in public
Being able to communicate in public allows you to get your message to many people in a short space of time. Whether it involves speaking to a live audience or learning how to speak on video – both help you to share your message to many people.
Skill 3: Embrace technology
There are so many mobile devices and social media sites and applications out there – it is easy to become overwhelmed as to what to follow and implement. I have learnt instead of being “over-whelmed” to become fascinated with the new trends and to find ways to implement them to my own advantage of sharing my message with many people.

The Difference Between Good And Great | People who are good at what they do have worked really hard to solve a problem through hard work, determination and commitment. The people who are great are those unique individuals who further teach other people how to do what they have learnt and also have systemised the process on what they do in order to help a greater amount of individuals. By doing this, they are also able to move on to higher and bigger goals to achieve.

Principles I Live By | Believe in yourself. Don’t let other people tell you what you can or cannot achieve. As soon as you let the voices of other people overshadow your own voice you will be living according to other people’s expectations and not your own.

Dineshrie-Pillay_P1Life is short. I personally do not believe in “New Year Resolutions” and rather live by the motto of “New Day Resolutions” Every day when we get up, we have the opportunity to change our attitudes, actions and beliefs of whatever happened the previous day. Don’t wait for the end of the year to change – you have the ability to do that on a daily basis.

Everything happens for its reasons. I believe that there are no coincidences in life. Every opportunity, event, experience and people you meet are perfectly matched to help you in some way. I have learnt to embrace all my life experiences – whether “good” or “bad” and to find the hidden lesson that I need to learn in order to help me grow as an individual.

The Meaning Of Life | I believe that as human beings our life is about leaving a legacy. That legacy can take many forms like, creating a family, making a difference to society or impacting the business community. What is more important is for you to know what your meaning or purpose for living is – to define that clearly and to take the steps to live that life.

A Key Talent | I do not give up. When I am not successful, I remind myself that other people have achieved what I am setting out to do, it my job to find those role models and learn from them and implement a different approach. My first failure came early – failing my qualifying board examination for 2 times in a row – in spite of a flawless academic track record prior to this. That experience taught me to compare my own success against my own standards and not against other people’s standards. It also taught me to monitor my thoughts, words and actions as it ultimately has an impact on our experiences in life.
Over the years, this strength has helped me to:

  1. Relocate at an early age to a new city;
  2. Secure employment in the company of my first choice;
  3. Start my own business and grow it on a year-on-year basis.

I have also learnt to do the following to keep my commitment on a high level.

  1. I share my fears with other people and ask for help. By doing so I am able to attract people who can provide me with wisdom to move forward.
  2. I associate with like-minded people – it inspires me to continue with my goals.
  3. I regularly ask for testimonials from my students – it reminds me of the impact that I make to others.
  4. I show my gratitude and appreciation to people who support me with personal messages, gifts and ongoing friendship.
  5. I focus on the top 3 priorities to achieve on a daily basis that will help me move towards achieving big goals.
  6. I celebrate and reward myself as soon as soon as I achieve even the smallest of milestones.
