My Definition Of Success | Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile goal or dream. A person is successful the moment he/she begins moving towards a target that blesses others and him self. Failure, then, is a necessary part of success because it provides the feedback needed to begin again with better information.
I Am Driven By | Fulfilling my God-given purpose is what drives me. I want to make a difference in the world by restoring justice where I see injustice. This includes setting people free financially, mentally, and spiritually.
The Difference Between Good And Great | I believe good is the biggest enemy of great. When a person is good at something, they typically lose the hunger to keep driving towards great. It is the rare individual who rejects good in his quest for greatness and significance.
A Key Talent | One of my first mentors taught me, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” To be successful, I promise you that the going will get tough. In fact, it’s these tough moments that define the individual and teams and determine whether they will live another day to prosper from the wisdom gain or surrender to the momentary pain. Resiliency, is a key factor in success because many times success is holding onto the last knot in the rope when everyone around you is letting go. Never give up and never give in. Every champion I know had to face his Goliath and if a person is not willing to face his, he will never accomplish his purpose and destiny.
The Characteristics Of Success | I wake up every day excited to progress towards my purpose. I vow to learn something new that will help me fulfill my purpose. I am not afraid to admit I am wrong and change directions when the data reveals my assumptions were incorrect. I seek to lift up other people’s gifts and partner with people of character to create winning teams. In sum, I live the resolutions in my All-Time Top 100 Leadership Book RESOLVED: 13 Resolutions for LIFE.
Principles I Live By | Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It is much better to be harmed than to harm someone. Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. You either hate losing enough to change, or you hate changing enough to lose.
Critical Skills I Develop | The three foundational skills for all leadership, as expressed in Chris Brady and my NY Times Bestseller Launching a Leadership Revolution are hungry, hone-able, and honorable. When a person takes these foundational principles and adds the three essential leadership principles in the Tri-Lateral-Leadership-Ledger (character, task, and relationships), on has the keys to successful leadership and successful living.
The Meaning Of Life | Fulfilling one’s purpose. True purpose develops all three areas – body, mind, and spirit – in order make a difference in the world. As Jesus Christ taught, the two greatest commandments are to love God with all your heart and soul and to love others as our selves. In other words, use our body, mind, and spirit gifts to glorify God and serve others. Indeed, only when people learn to take the focus off them selves and seek to serve others can their true purpose be accomplished. Victor Frankl explained it best when he said purpose is not so much determined as it is detected.
Taking this a step further in my book RESOLVED: 13 Resolutions for LIFE, I taught purpose is the intersection of passion, potential, and profits. Thus, every person has a unique purpose because each person has different gift and talents to share with the world. Moreover, each person, regardless of the size of the overall purpose, has something to contribute to the world. The meaning of life, then, is to utilize your passions, potential, and profits to fulfill your purpose by serving God and humanity. Paradoxically, only when a person takes the focus off himself and places it upon others, does he consummate the quest for fulfillment and satisfaction that had eluded him previously.
I Am Inspired By | Jesus Christ, Apostle Paul, Sam Walton, John Wooden, Ludwig Von Mises
The Legacy I Would Like To Leave | He took the talents God gave him and used it to glorify God and serve others by setting people free from bondage financially, mentally, and spiritually.
