Sir Robert Swan | A Polar Explorer & Environmentalist
Robert Swan is a polar explorer, environmentalist and the first man ever to walk unsupported to both the North and South Poles. He is an exceptionally gifted communicator and is regarded as one of the world’s top motivational speakers.
I Am Driven By | Antarctica—Earth’s last great wilderness and the most special place in my opinion.
A Key Talent | In simple terms: relentlessness. If you believe in something you need to just carry on and DO it. There’s no good in discussing plans and having endless briefings and conference calls. In my world, as a Polar Explorer, we faced near death experiences and needed to push forward, entrust, and make decisions with limited resources—that is true leadership.
Lessons I Have Learnt | One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to always be the positive person in the room. In a world surrounded by negative news stories, we must fight for OUR story.
Performing At My Peak | I look to my team for guidance. We have an open line of communication and respect that honest is important for any working relationship.
Resources I Use To Stay Inspired | I’m a historian so I appreciate any tv Programme; literature and opportunity to lean and discuss historical movements. I’m often watch TED talks and listen to podcasts to learn further about leading industry information and inspirational topics.
My Future Dreams And Ambitions | I would like to ensure one place is left alone forever, Antarctica. I will continue to spread the importance of this message and create action plans to move forward.
The Meaning Of Life | To me, the meaning of life is to be happy. Always search for your own happiness and help other in the process.
The Best Advice I’ve Received | The best advice I’ve ever received was negative- ‘you’re going to die Robert’…this delivery against the odds created much motivation for me and still continues to do so.
The Legacy I Would Like To Leave | I hope to leave an positive impression for the Polar regions. This is my 50 year mission and will not stop trying.
